Power Japan Plus and Team Taisan have partnered to develop a vehicle that will be powered by more energy efficient storage device and may eventually contribute to mass production of electric cars at lower cost.
The vehicle will be put to test in the racing arena. The trend of hybrid cars race has already been set by Toyota, Audi and Porsche at Le Mans.
Key researcher Professor Tatsumi Ishihara has designed the dual carbon battery at research facility of Kyushu University. The battery is made of organic carbon and is dense that can extend the milage of vehicles. At present it gives approximately 300 miles.
There's minimal thermal variation, that is no temperature change during operation and charges 20 times faster than lithium ion batteries.
The research was shelved for decades until last year when Power Japan Plus decided to push the limits to produce dual carbon batteries. However, basic question of pure chemistry hasn't changed that is., how much energy a battery can store and supply? |
